Third Time's the charm

Hardware ranch is a state owned animal preserve near Logan. There is a dirt road that starts at Hardware ranch, winds around for about 45 miles and drops you onto HWY 89 near Bear Lake. It isn't a very hard road, there are a few very narrow places, about 12 different river crossings but that is it.

Ken and I first attempted this road in Big D around April of 2003. There was still quite a bit of snow up there. We ended up getting stuck for about 2 hours and completely missing Easter Dinner with my family. Again, I am so sorry for missing Easter Bet.

We attempted the road again in June of 2005. It was beautiful ride. The snow was melted and the sky's were blue. We decided to take what we thought was as off shoot to do some "extra" offroading but it turned out to be a completely different road. It still dropped us off at HWY 89 but not where it was supposed to.

Saturday, we decided to try it again. It is too simple a road to NOT complete it. So we loaded up the recovery gear, decided no deviations from the main road, no stopping to change into 4 low (4 low isn't really needed and that is what caused us to get stuck in 2003), we were going to power through no matter what.

We made it!!!! What beautiful ride. You go through areas with large meadows, go along a few cliffs, tall pines and aspens line the road in spots, it is BEAUTIFUL!

We picked the perfect day to do it too. "Blue skies smiling at me, Nothing but blue skies do I see"

It took about three hours to completed. Except for about 7 four wheelers,we were the only ones on the trail. What a ride!!

We ended up back in Logan around 4:30 so we decided to call my Brother Nate and his family and see if they wanted to hang out. They only live about 30 minutes from there. It was nice to hang out with his family again this weekend. His youngest (at least for a few more months) told us that she is going to marry Uncle Ken when she grows up. Sorry Sophie, I won't share. We will find you a man almost as good as him though! Thanks again for hanging out with us Nate and Kate. We enjoyed it. Thanks for dinner and the movie too. Who know Robert dinero would play a "woopsie" guy so well.

What an adventure!
