I grew up watching movies with mom. She LOVES them. I think I watched more movies growing up than TV shows. It was her thing, every week she would go buy a few more. If she couldn't afford to purchase, it was off the Blockbuster. When I left home, Mom had over 500 movies sitting on her shelves.
Some of my favorites:
The Princess Bride
Sound of music - ok, most musicals and anything with Gene Kelly or Debbie Reynolds.
IT
Steven Kings weekly 1/2 hour shows - we recorded them!
Patch Adams
Powder
A time to Kill
Ken likes to watch them too but I don't think he was immersed by them like I was. Between the two of us, we have seen ALOT of movies. It seems like a lot of them are the same old story with different actors/actresses.
There are several exceptions. One of them being Transformers!! I LOVE Transformers. Ken and I saw it in the theatre three times and then bought it as soon as it came out on dvd.
Last night we saw another one, UP by Disney/pixar. Here is the link - http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/up/. I loved it. It is about a cranky old man that goes on an adventure with a boyscout that stows away on his flying house. I don't think there has ever been an animated flick that pokes fun at old people. From his walker with the tennis balls to the prune jokes, it is silly.
We went with Katie and nate and their little girls. Ellie sat between Nate and I. She was so cute to watch. She would get nervous or scared and bury her head in her dad's arm. She would clap when the old man and his side kick would win a battle.
This was the first show we have gone to with any of our nieces/nephews. We watch them at home with them but this is the first one in the theatre. Man, I gotta say, I loved it. Little ones are so cute! They get so involved in the show. I love going to movies, going with little ones is definitely the way to go!
Happy watching - oh, and don't forget the popcorn!
I took our girls to see it and they were the same as Ellie. There were even a couple times when Sabby started to cry a bit. It was a great Daddy/Daughters date movie. I loved the show too Angie.
